Quote of the day:

"What is just is simple, what is false is complicated. Simplicity is the sign of God"

Jean-Baptiste Porion

We'll provide here a list of books that we use (or have used) on a regular basis:

Religious books:

- The Bible; Through the eyes of faith, this is clearly the Word of God as interpreted by his Messengers. For unbelievers, this is, at most, an interesting history book. The Gospel of John stands out; in particular the chapters 14 to 17.

- The Ascent of Mount Carmel by John of the Cross; The first half of the Second book contains a profound description of the reality of faith. When I first read this book, I was surprised that a spanish monk living in the 16th century has something to tell me.

- The Prayer of Love and Silence by Dom Jean-Baptiste Porion; A remarkable little book written by a carthusian monk. I keep re-reading a chapter or two every days for a number of years now. I just can't give it up.

- The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis; A 14th century monk who has a clear vision of the journey of a soul. A chapter or two of this book has more soothing effects than most modern tranquilizers...

Science books:

- Mathematics: Forms and Functions by Saunders Maclane; The book provide a broad collection of relationships between the different fields of mathematics. It helps seeing the forest from the trees.

- Sheaves in Geometry and Logic by Maclane and Moerdijk; As the subtitle says, this is an introduction to topos theory (written by mathematicians for mathematicians).

- Practical foundations of mathematics by Paul Taylor; A reference work for the categorical view on the foundations of mathematics.

Technology books:

- Programming Microsoft Windows with C# by Charles Petzold; The classic Windows programming book update for the .Net platform. Not as good as the original version but still extremely well-written.

- Windows Forms Programming in C# by Chris Sells; Together with Petzold's book, you are ready to handle most typical jobs involving programming desktop applications on the Microsoft platform.

- Microsoft Windows Internals by Russinovich and Solomon; To do a good job at programming you need to understand what goes on under the hood, this book provide you with a lot of information on this subject.
